Made it through day 3 of the Xponential Festial fairly intact. Rain and flash flooding got the best of us during the 2nd to last band and we had to abandon 2 camp chairs, a camp table, our picnic blanket and my sunglasses. Trekked back to the car in the downpour and ankle deep water but it was worth it for such a fun end to a great weekend. Let it be know, our daughter is a trooper at a festival. She made friends with everyone sitting around us and all over the park people would stop us and say they had seen her dancing/singing/clapping/climbing all over Patrick and they were impressed she was handling it all so well. Seeing as I think she was fueled almost exclusively on free strawberry lemonade and samples of ice cream, I’m not surprised she had enough energy to make it.
Eavan’s having some fun at WXPN’s Xponential Festival! It’s been a great event and we’re loving Dr. John, Red Baraat, Edward Sharpe and everyone else so far.
Just a few shots from our road trip to Atlanta to visit the Fowlkes and new baby John.
Backseat sitting for multiple (read: hundred) readings of Kailan’s Super Happy Heart Book made mommy’s heart less than super happy.
Virginia Beach camping. Eavan was a champ but she didn’t understand the whole “it’s ok to not sleep in your crib” thing.
We were totally unsuccessful at getting a photo of all three cousins smiling and looking at the camera. This was just one of many cute failures.
Our last night in town we had a lovely time at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. They have this great event where they set up bars all over the garden so you can have drinks while you let the kiddies run wild. That’s Eli, Carter and John in the center way ahead with Eavan chasing after them. Thomas and I (and Patrick phototaking) hung back with our drinks. Who are the smart ones here?
We had a wonderful time on our long-ish vacation in Mexico over the Thanksgiving holiday. We went down to Cancun with my Dad’s side of the family who is normally spread out across the whole of the USA. It was great to spend time with my whole family including aunts, uncles cousins and grandparents.
View from our room at night…nice long exposure from Patrick!
Cousins Lauren and Cara turning Chris into Pippi Longstockings.
Leaders of the family!
Eavan and her Tai Gong (my YehYeh).
Chris took nearly the whole vacation painting his in order to justify his art school tuition.
Eavan’s first catamaran tour! There will hopefully be more in the near future.
Patrick’s requisite long arm shot – aka his sibling salute to his sister.
Eavan chilling by the pool with Uncle Chris…
…who each morning c0uld be found like this.
And each morning Eavan liked to look over the balcony like this…
We also did a photo shoot with the whole family, non-professional excerpts below:
Eavan had the luck of dressing up twice for Halloween. In big kid world this would mean twice the candy but in baby world it means being forcibly inserted into 2 ridiculous (-ly cute!) outfits. First for her outing with her babysitter she donned a lovely and comfy Kermit the Frog outfit on Friday:
She crawled across the basketball court at the gym while the older girls were teaching the kids how to do the Thriller dance but she occasionally had to stop because of exhaustion:
For actual Halloween we decided to do a little throwback number and dress her as an angel:
She wasn’t too happy about the tinsel around her neck but it was adorable nonetheless…for the 10 minutes she wore it for a photo op with her cousin Colin:
Happy Halloween (1 week late)!
P.S. I think this is record posting for us…usually we are a month+ late.
My Nai Nai and Yeh Yeh came for a visit for Chris’ college graduation and to meet their first great grandchild! Eavan will call them Tai Po and Tai Gong.
I’m still looking for a pic with NaiNai…I’ll update as soon as I get one from someone…hint hint Dad or Brenna!
Spending time with NaiNai and YehYeh is incredibly important to me since we get to see them so infrequently. We’re going to spend a wonderful week with them in Mexico over Thanksgiving along with the rest of the Liu extended family. Can’t wait!
Considering Eavan has no teeth yet and her diet consists of breast milk and…. more breast milk, she made out like a bandit on this, the 2nd most important candy holiday of the year.
Easter goodies from Grandmom and Mama Helen.
And a fancy pants basket from mom and dad full of…
SURPRISE! their favorite stuff! That Easter Bunny sure is smart!
More pics of Eavan in her Easter dress to come later today.
