Tonight it was cold and snowy outside, and since our necks had grown weary of staring lovingly at our child–and our new DVR was completely empty–the wife and I troubled about for something to make the night a little cuter. That’s when the spirit moved us to give Eavan her first bath.
As you’ll see she was more or less cooperative, but perhaps a bit upset by the coldness of drying off (and no dear, that reluctance to get out of the shower/bath never goes away).
Oh and look out for some silliness after the jump.

After announcing to our nearest and dearest on Thursday, January 21st, that my water had broken and the birth of our 1st child was imminent and then having “imminent” turn into “eventually” we’ve had many inquiries into what exactly happened over those 4 days before Eavan Marie finally joined the world. Below I’m going to provide the play-by-play and also recording this while I still remember it all will be good for the future. You’ve been forewarned:

Eli requested pics of the new house arrangement and of the ever growing belly so I did her one better, a video from our new camera! (Please ignore my huffing and puffing. Lugging this belly around is really getting me winded.)
The rearrangement stemmed from our picking up a design book called The Not So Big House by Sarah Susanka. The book spoke to our feelings of what we really wanted from our home, efficient use of space, no wasted rooms, etc. We recommend it to anyone interested in home architecture and layout.
We got the furniture from Karen and John this weekend and were able to put the room together. It looks sickeningly adorable. Check it out:
There’s not a lot on the walls yet but at least the bedroom set is together and the clothes are in drawers. Patrick insisted on the giant leaf over the bed to go with the jungle theme and I think it’s pretty awesome. Now we just need a baby!
So…it’s been about 3 months since we posted. The easy answer is I’m pregnant and nothing of interest has happened in 3 months. But that would be untrue. In the past 3 months we’ve been on a vacation to Arkansas, hosted our first official Thanksgiving at our house, replaced all the major appliances in our kitchen and thus had a show down with a major corporate entity, celebrated Christmas with Helen and Phil in Philadelphia, I got (DO NOT CLICK UNLESS YOU ENJOY BEING GROSSED OUT) PUPPP, which is this really fun full body pregnancy-induced rash, and grew exponentially in size. We also have been busy getting the baby’s rooms ready, rearranging our house (no more dining rom) and trying to train Maddie to ignore the cats in the hopes that we won’t have to get rid of Chairman who doesn’t seem like he’ll be able to handle Maddie AND a new baby.
I suspect that in the new year, with the new arrival, posting will be more frequent so we can keep the far away family apprised of the little ones growth…but I’m not making any promises. If we don’t post it might force said family to move closer. Just kidding!
